desktop wallpaper 1 & freelance marriages
I’ve been trying to think of something that I could give away for you guys… I’m not a fabulous illustrator, photographer, or any of those things.. but some of you seem to like my photos enough that maybe you’d like them on your desktop? I tried a technique I learned about through a few sources. First Matt, a great designing friend and incredible photographer. He got the tutorial from psdtuts.com, Spoonfed Photoshop Tutorials which is an INCREDIBLE source for technique and learning. I’m really glad Matt turned me onto it. And you can check out Matt’s wallpaper here – it’s awesome, I have it on my Macbook Pro now!So here is my first attempt using one of the Lake photos and some fun effects (see bottom of post). I’m still learning and experimenting. If you download and like it, let me know! Next time I plan on a beautiful fall-leaf scene!I also read a really great article on Freelance Switch today that I fully plan on passing onto my husband (even though I’m only going about 40% freelance at this point). It was funny and insightful!

That was a great article! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the desktop, too. It’s a beautiful picture! I LOVE Photoshop CS2, and I’ve done lots of scraping stuff in it, but I’ve never tried to make a desktop wallpaper. I’ll have to check out that tut site you linked.

Nice work! I looked through your portfolio too and loved the piece on the history of locomotives. Being a train buff, I wished I could see the details… : )
(And thanks for your interest in HighCallingBlogs.com!)

what a fun idea. 1 suggestion giving away things for free is a great way to promote yourself, especially since you are starting to do more freelance. So you should put your web-address or some sort of contact info on the actual download. bottom right corner is pretty standard.

What a great idea! I love this one with the water, but I’m standing by for the fall leaves–I’ll bet the colors will be gorgeous!

This is going to sound really stupid but I can’t seem to view or download it.
Any chance you could email me the 1024×768?
