Zelda is done and fine and I can pick her up at 7!

Can I please have a cat moment where i act like a mother to my pet and personify her? thanks.

Sooooo if any of you have cats, you know it is virtually impossible to brush their teeth. I’ve tried many times – some will let you, some won’t. Just like clipping their claws, that is no problem – i can do it to both my cats pretty easily. Anyway, Zelda generally gags when I try to brush her teeth, and resists so much I end up lettiner her go. I knew after a certain amount of years she would need to have some sort of professional cleaning to preserve her teeth and stave off the possiblity that she’ll lose some as she gets older – it happens to a lot of animals.

Yesterday Tych & Zelds had their annual checkup and I asked the vet if now was a good time – they said they could get her in tomorrow for a teeth cleaning and that I could even leave her there over night. I agonized over it mainly because Zelda is just so awesome, I didn’t want to a) leave her in a scary vets office all night, and b) i love having her around at home – how would i sit at my laptop without her behind my head all night? But the problem was that a) If I leave her it is motivation to do this procedure she really needs and b) there’s no way I can get out here AGAIN in the early morning then BACK AGAIN later in the night. I have a life people.

So I left her there and called at 8 to see if she was ok through the night and they said, yes she is in good spirits this morning, and we just took her out to put in her CATHETER. first of all, she’s a cat. come on. she needs a catheter?? and second of all – her procedure could be anywhere from noon to four, so she has to stay like that for goodness knows how long. UGHGHGHG it’s torture to me. sigh.

I can’t wait to get her home tonight!

ok <crazy cat lady rant over>

This was an invitation created for a GE reception held at a planetarium. It was really fun because I used a combination of vector imagery and photoshop with brushes to create a starry night, hill scene. The constellation is the leaf motif from the hybrid paint scheme. It also had a matching little thank you card!

The most recent edition of Stairways Magazine, UP created with the team. I was really happy with this one because the colors were really great (blues and teals, my favs) and it was a winter theme. My goal was also to get way more consistent with the design so I we have a really nice, not busy template and created something I think will be easily updateable each time.

We also are almost done redesigning our website, and it will be up very soon!

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Last night I thought to myself, I really want my roses upstairs as I read before bed. And they’ve stayed there in a gorgeous vase my mother-in-law got me for Christmas that goes with our Lenox, Opal Innocence China collection. I think every woman should always be treated to fresh flowers on her bedside table. There’s something about it that makes me feel like that morning is special, or I’m in a guest bedroom. I guess that’s why in magazines there’s always fresh flowers in the rooms

Also, Tycho & Zelda say hi They are doing very well.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Last night was rough with self-confidence, doubt, anger, frustration, and general overwhelment and loneliness. Trying to figure out your passions and how you should be spending your time best, where you belong, where you should move on from and where focuses should be is an intense task. Thankfully a friend stopped over and that helped, then my hubby came home and was wonderful. He even said “you know what? We’re having a great night. There I said it. I’m deeming this a great night.”  It turned from awful to great within an hour or so, and that was spectacular.

Anyway I’m just trying to take it one thing at a time. I needed to blog to get it all out of my system. Thanks for thoughts and prayers. Love.

Design Fruit started making wall decals. I might just have to get a set of these ones in deep brown for our bedroom . They are so cool! They are available on etsy.com. I should check out and see what other decals are out there too.

And our babies have found a home with Miss Christa (Graffiti Girl Designs!) and her hubby Mr. Sean (shown below with casey at a wedding). Thanks guys, you won’t regret it. I’m so glad it could work out so my parents didn’t become completely cat crazy people or have to give them to a shelter.

This has been a pretty exhausting day. I think my hubs is in bed, he had a bad day. It’s about 10:20 on Saturday night… I have a big day tomorrow too, church, singing both services, family photo shoot of Paulis (praying for good weather, not like last sunday), worship band practice, then come home and do a lot of stuff for my father’s house of erie.

our friend’s chris & lorah’s son Joshua turned one. Here he is with gramma upon eating his first birthday cake:

we may have a home for these 5 week old little girl kittens, but it’s not looking great. I can’t bear to bring them to a shelter. It is preferable they stay together. If you know anyone or are interested, please contact me. They are perfect, two little girls, almost identical, but different personalities, so affectionate, love to be near you and purr. And this is why I have to either get involved with a rescue organization or open up my own cat sanctuary. We’ve been calling them Lizzy & Bailey and are already totally in love with them. My parents can’t keep them because they have 2 other cats and one is dealing with other health issues. Lizzy & Bailey have already been de-flead, dewormed, given their first vaccine — so are ready to go with only one set of shots they’ll need in 4 weeks plus an FLV test. They are totally liter-box trained and are doing perfectly for how young they are.

If my first home comes through, that is obviously the preferred place for them to go, but let me know if you are interested as a backup!!

One of the advantages to being off on Mondays (which isn’t always possible, but I try my hardest) is getting able to actually use and cook and chop and eat all the healthy food I buy at the beginning of the month. Today I wanted to make myself a healthy stir fry. It’s super simple, but unbelievably tasty. You can use whatever amount of the ingredients you want, or add or take away anything.

The basic ingredients to rachel’s summer stir-fry are:

Assorted bell peppers

Fresh pineapple chunks (this is important)

Zucchini/squash

A few slices of onion

A few piece of asparagus

Chopped fresh chicken, cooked before the veggies are added

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (about a tablespoon or so)

Rosemary/Thyme to taste

Start the chicken first obviously, and then after it’s about halfway cooked, you can add the rest. The best part? It’s a starch free meal – the only carbs come from the veggies/pineapple. It filled me up. Sort of. I have to admit, I still had a twix bar afterwards. I’m terrible about my sweets.

In other news, this weekend was good. Fast as usual. Sunday service was good – and Brian and I got some really nice quality time together. MetaCafe was fun, you need to come! Also, I got a ton of cleaning, purging and organizing and figuring out things that have just been put off due to busyness. Tax stuff, business account stuff, stacks and stacks of junk mail, coupon cutting, client file disorganization….I don’t know how I let things get out so of hand. I mean, I feel that I am an organized person, but things build up so fast. I still have a small pile on my desk I need to deal with. But I can’t get to it quite yet.

Today was one of those days where you do things you have to do – go to the dentist, run to walmart to pick up supplies you’re low on and end up spending way more than you want, heading to petsmart to get food for the cats – unable to resist walking to the adoption section and having to leave in tears because you want to take all these beautiful, loving pets home and give them a home…. etc. Don’t you all have days like that?

I’m going to Bella Designs (that website will be redone within the month, I promise) now to take pictures of dresses for a celebrity/ebay auction that will be happening soon, then home for a bit, then to Chris’s with Danielle to make a major dent in the new Grace website reprogram/redesign. I’m actually excited about it!
