Two of my amazing couples for 2012 weddings fit in some engagement sessions over the holiday. We had such a blast, even though the weather sucked both days! But that’s Erie… and that’s winter.. Ryan & Melissa are one of the sweetest and most fun couples I’ve ever met. Melissa is the cousin of one of my previous and incredible brides, Amiee, and I was thrilled to keep it in the family and shoot another DooLittle wedding! The weather was crazy, it was blizzarding, but we still were able to get beautiful shots inside the stunning interior of the Ambassador. We did go outside for about 40 seconds, but after the bride & groom were covered from head to toe in thick white snow and I couldn’t see into my viewfinder anymore, we knew those few cold and white shots would have to suffice! I had a hard time narrowing down shots, as usual, so here are some of my favorites. If you want to see a few more, go to my flickr page!

Jason & Jen called me up to get some maternity pictures for their second pregnancy! They have an awesome son already named Corbinn who was so cute and really into the pictures (until we got out in the snow). We started at their house, then went out to Zuck Park and had some awesome time in the freezing snow!

Corbinn was so cold, so luckily Jason’s brother was there to literally THROW himself in the snow and get him to laugh for a few pictures.

In lieu of paper cards this year, mainly because we don’t have the $$ to send a christmas card to everyone of you in the mail since we love you all so much, I designed a little digital one for the world.

We love you all, and have had an incredible year, with the birth of our daughter Chloe our lives have been totally changed for the better. She is our light and laughter, and the joy of both of our families! My sister got married this year to an awesome young man, Josh, and we are so happy to have him in our family. We were blessed enough to take a trip to Myrtle Beach with Brian’s family in september, and then to Maryland for Thanksgiving with Chloe where she ate her first thanksgiving treats Chloe is growing and learning and we are just trying to hang on for the ride! 2010 saw a great year of business for Rachel’s business, Puremotif, as well, and is set for some big changes in 2011 and I can’t wait to annouce them and show you our new look! Brian saw a lot of changes at Grace this year as well, and has begun preaching more and accepting new responsibilities as a Pastor.

We couldn’t have asked for more and are so thankful for all the ways that our friends and family have been near us, reached out to us, and helped us during our first year as parents!

I’m skipping way ahead to post this blog so you can all have one last whiff of Christmas before everything is put away and we forget it happened! Ashley & Matt’s wedding was for me a total surprise – I wasn’t planning on doing any in December and a friend referred me because there was a contract mix-up! I’m so glad I did it though and it turned out to be so fun – even trecking out in the snow!! There’s a bunch more here!

the balance of time management

Sometimes I think I’m really good at my time management, and other times terrible. But I’m not sure all of it is my fault. It’s just the nature of what we do I guess. This post is probably going to be boring and sound complainy and all competitive-i’m-so-busy-and-you’re-not, but that’s not my intention. So proceed if you want.

For example, with my day job, EO work:

I am slow, then slammed, then slow then slammed. I haven’t archived files in months (which is bad, but also good cuz it just takes up agency time)
I haven’t gone through my work email and filtered/deleted since September, meaning 930+ to sort through, and home since the same, so probably even worse as all my gmail and puremotif goes there.
I have 2 important projects I’m in the middle of, but right now, they are on hold so I’m twiddling my thumbs. At any moment though, they could break out and go crazy.

And with freelance and my business:

I had one wedding this past Saturday which was beautiful and another at New Years. After that I have no weddings until May, (when there are THREE!)
I do have some family photo shoots coming up, but not a whole lot of graphic design work.
I have an album I’m waiting for the couple to decide on images for, so that will be some time when it comes
I’m really in a place where I need to say yes to any and everything that comes my way freelance wise, so I book up enough work to tide me through till weddings begin in spring.
I will soon need to spend some time compiling and organizing everything tax-wise for the 08 year. I did oK keeping it organized, but still not good enough.

And at home:

I had the ambition to do Christmas Cards this year, but it’s not going to happen, I just don’t have the manpower/time and I can’t afford the ink/paper to print them. I’m really bummed about this.
I got my wonderful new elliptical for Christmas already and it is set-up, I had time to workout 3 days last week, then no more. It’s not that I don’t want to, I really want to. I just can’t get to it!
The house is an absolute and utter mess.
This is a problem, because my in-laws and brother-in-law and his girlfriend are going to spend Christmas with us for four days. That’s 6 people in a small 3 bedroom Erie City house, with ONE BATHROOM. Count them. ONE. So, that’s going to be really really interesting. I’m so excited to see them, but to get my house ready for guest useage is going to be a lot of work. I’m really praying this week and weekend affords time to do that.
I am however done with all my family Christmas shopping, couldn’t do friends this year, and most of the wrapping, except for one of my presents for my hubbie that got messed up in shipping
Wrapping presents and doing tons of laundry last night took me like 5 hours instead of the 2 I was hoping for.

And in general:

I am always 3-8 minutes late for everything. I don’t know why
But today, I was 10 minutes early for the presentation at the Manufacturer’s Association.
I say I’m going to go to bed by 11, but last night I don’t think I closed my eyes until 1:30am, and this generally happens to me.
I want to be blogging more.
Brian and I had another little tiff about our schedules and conflicts and life and expectations last night. It ended wonderfully with laughter and teasing, I love that we can take our fights and turn them into jokes… but still, it will always be an issue I’m sure.
Snow makes everything take longer.

That’s all. I guess this post was more for me. ha.

things are crazy

I forgot my cell phone over lunch as I was out and I was in shock about how much I missed since I was away from the computer, twitter, and my cell. Numerous phone calls, etc. A friend’s father died last night, and another friend is going in to be induced today at 4pm a few weeks ahead of schedule because the baby is a few weeks behind in physical development and they want to get him out as soon as possible. I know they are nervous and I’m nervous and praying for them.

So much has happened today and yesterday. It’s all crazy.

Ok so now I have tons of work to do.

Also it feels like the end of January.
